Watch: Artisans from Central Asia, Kashmir reconnect in Srinagar

Kashmir, renowned for its rich artisanal heritage, hosted the 60th-anniversary celebrations of the World Craft Council.

This international event, running from November 25 to 28, has brought together artisans from across the globe to celebrate and exchange their unique crafts. The highlight of the event is the announcement of a ‘Seal of Authenticity of the Craft,’ a certification aimed at preserving the integrity of Jammu and Kashmir’s centuries-old handmade crafts. This initiative begins with the textile industry and aims to position Srinagar as a global hub for artisanal excellence.

Artisans from 15 countries gathered in Srinagar, showcasing techniques like miniature painting from Iran, textile weaving from Laos, and camel wool craftsmanship from Turkmenistan.
