VADODARA: Carrying a pet dog for a ride on a two-wheeler is a thing of the past in Vadodara. Now crocodiles are being taken out on rides on the city roads!
A video of a crocodile sitting between two men on a two-wheeler is going viral in the city. The man riding the pillion is holding the crocodile whose jaws are tied with a rope to ensure that it doesn’t harm anyone.
The video has amused many as it’s the first time that a big crocodile was seen enjoying a ride on a two-wheeler in the city. The five-and-half-feet-long was carried by two volunteers of the Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).
“They had rescued the reptile from a sub-station in the Manjalpur area on Friday night. They informed the forest department and were waiting for a vehicle to take the reptile back,” said Raj Bhavsar, president, GSPCA, Vadodara.

“But, many onlookers gathered at the spot and were trying to get close to the crocodile. Some wanted to get a selfie with it while others were trying to touch it. The volunteers felt concerned that either the crocodile or the people may get harmed in the melee. So, they decided to carry the reptile to the forest department on their two-wheeler,” Bhavsar told TOI.
He added that the forest department and volunteers of many NGOs have been busy rescuing crocodiles that have ventured out on the city roads after the city was flooded recently. Hundreds of crocodiles reside in the Vishwamitri River that passes through the city. When the river overflowed, many huge reptiles entered the city areas along with the waters.
