Passengers causing mayhem on a plane is increasingly in public glare and in this case, inebriated passengers travelling on a Wizz Air flight from from London to Larnaca sent fellow passengers and the crew members in a tizzy after allegedly consuming alcohol they had brought with them, which the airline prohibits.
“The individuals initially resisted cooperation with staff who were doing their job to protect the health and safety of other passengers,” a spokesperson for the Hungarian budget airline was quoted as telling by the New York Post.
In the video that has gone viral, a seemingly drunk woman is seen wandering the aisles, swearing at other passengers while crew members attempt to calm her down.
At one point, the allegedly intoxicated woman and another disruptive passenger are seen drinking large cans of beer, which they reportedly brought from home and not purchased inside the airline.
The airline representative stated that the pair were “reminded on several occasions that this was not permitted.”
“For safety purposes, passengers are prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages not purchased on the aircraft,” the spokesperson added.
The duo initially ignored the flight attendants’ attempts to de-escalate the situation but eventually complied. Subsequently, they were then relocated to different seats to prevent further disturbances.
“We do not tolerate any aggressive behavior towards our crew or passengers and would like to apologize to passengers who experienced any distress as a result of the incident,” the Wizz Air spokesperson said.
