NOIDA: Residents of Sector 71 reported a lack of water supply on Wednesday. The sector, which has about 25,000 residents, has been experiencing low water pressure, inadequate supply, and pipeline leakages for over a month, while some residents have had to resort to unauthorised submersibles and water pumps.
“This is the fifth time there has been no water supply in a month.Every time we are told that the Ganga water supply has stopped or there has been a blockage of some kind, Other sectors haven’t reported similar problems. Why are we being misled with the wrong information?” asked Sushil Yadav, a resident of Sector 71.
“Apart from low-pressure supply, and that too for a very short duration, we are not getting Ganga water,” he said.
Sanjay Shukla, RWA general secretary of Shiv Shakti Apartment, said that the entire sector awaits redressal, while Pradeep Mishra, RWA general secretary of Metro Apartment, demanded immediate action from the Authority.
Taking cognisance of the complaints, RP Singh, general manager of the water and sewer departments, Noida Authority, directed officials to ensure that the water supply is resumed by Wednesday evening.
Later, Prem Sain from the Authority’s water department attributed the water shortage to the lack of Ganga water. He said that supply from two tubewells will soon be restarted. “Today, water was supplied between 7am and 8.45am. Soon, we plan to connect Sector 71’s supply to the ranney well line. An estimate is being prepared for the work,” said Sain.
