Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday (February 3) emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment for building a resilient society.
“Empowering women is crucial for a sustainable future. The Telangana government is committed to providing equal opportunities and fostering an environment for their success,” he said during a visit to WE Hub in Hyderabad.
The Governor, accompanied by Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu, said women entrepreneurs are key drivers of economic growth and vital for the State’s progress. WE Hub is an initiative of Telangana government to foster women entrepreneurship.
In a release on the visit, WE Hub said it is dedicated to nurturing women-led enterprises in both urban and rural landscapes and has been instrumental in creating an environment where women entrepreneurs can access mentorship, funding, market linkages and technology resources to scale their businesses.
“Telangana has led the way in supporting women entrepreneurs and WE Hub reflects this commitment. Through initiatives such as Mahila Shakti and Mahalaxmi Schemes, along with the Skill University, we are equipping women with the tools they need to turn their ideas into successful businesses. We are especially focused on empowering women from Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions,” Mr. Sridhar Babu said.
Women entrepreneurs incubated at WE Hub showcased their products and ideas to the Governor and the Minister. Entrepreneurs travelled from as far as Manthani, illustrating the far-reaching impact of WE Hub’s initiatives in bridging the gap between rural and urban areas. The Governor and the Minister interacted with the entrepreneurs, offering support and encouragement to help foster a more inclusive ecosystem for women in business, WE Hub said.
“In parallel with our work to provide targeted interventions for women, we are also driving a broader societal change … raising awareness and sensitising our communities to the immense benefits of involving women in the workforce,” WE Hub CEO Sita Pallacholla said.
