A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by a group of seven students in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore. Reacting on the unfortunate incident, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai on Tuesday slammed the ruling DMK-government in the state, alleging women are “unsafe” in the state.
The BJP leader further alleged an increase in drug abuse among the youth. Calling the rape incident “shocking,” Annamalai further said that such incidents have a link with the rise in drug abuse.
Annamalai took to social media platform X to express his views and criticise the Chief Minister MK Stalin-led state government for allegedly failing to ensure women safety.
In a post on X, the state BJP chief wrote, “The news of a 17-year-old girl being gang-raped by 7 students in Coimbatore is shocking. Such gang-rapes on girls show that due to the increasing drug abuse, the youth are turning to animalistic mentality.”
“The entire country was shaken by Nirbhaya. But, in Tamil Nadu, every day, women, including girls, students, female police officers, and female government officials, are completely unsafe. The DMK government has not moved a single finger to prevent drug trafficking or ensure the safety of women,” the BJP leader wrote on X in Tamil language.
He further asked the CM, “If the culprit is from the DMK, will the Chief Minister @mkstalin tell us who benefits from blaming the women who were affected…?”
