Xbox Cloud Gaming rolls out mouse and keyboard support for select titles: What it means for users

Microsoft has started rolling out the support for mouse and keyboard in the beta version of Xbox Cloud Gaming. This feature will enable Xbox Insiders to start playing games with their mouse and keyboard in Edge, Chrome, or the Xbox app on Windows PCs. Microsoft announced it was preparing to add mouse and keyboard support to its Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) service nearly two years ago.The tech giant is finally started previewing this feature with beta testers.
However, Microsoft has confirmed that not every game will be supported during the preview. Yet, there’s a long list of games , including Fortnite, Sea of Thieves and Halo Infinite that will support mouse and keyboard controls.
Microsoft has also warned that after users start interacting with a game, some of them will display controller UI elements for a short time before adapting to mouse and keyboard input.

How to use the feature

According to Microsoft, users who are interested to try playing games with mouse and keyboard in the browser version of Xbox Cloud Gaming, will have to be in full-screen mode.

This is important as the full-screen mode will help the game to correctly capture the user’s pointer as input. Users can also exit the exit the mouse and keyboard mode anytime they want. For doing so, users have to switch to an Xbox controller instead. Microsoft also noted that there’s an ALT+F9 shortcut to do the same.
