The Young Indians (Yi) Mysuru Chapter, which is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will launch a national-level initiative, “Young Indian Parliament 2025”, to instill civic consciousness, leadership capabilities, and policy understanding among school students.
The theme of YiP 2025 is “Where Young Minds Shape the Nation – Debate | Decide | Drive,’’ will provide a platform for students to engage in parliamentary simulations, participate in structured debates, and gain firsthand experience in governance and public policy.
A release stated that the YiP aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of empowering youth without political lineage to step into roles of governance and leadership. It will also promote the belief that the strength of democracy lies in merit, ideas, and the courage to lead, the release added.
The YiP has a three-tier formation – city rounds, regional rounds, and national finals. The release stated that students are encouraged to develop public speaking, negotiation, and policy analysis skills and the top-performing students from city-level rounds will move on to the regional rounds conducted across eight cities, and finalists will take part in the national parliamentary simulation.
In 2024, the YiP saw participation from over 4,300 students across 720 schools, facilitated by eight Yi city chapters. The initiative focuses on relevant and critical themes, including skill development and AI readiness, environmental sustainability, education reform, youth empowerment, women and child safety, and technology and cybersecurity.
Schools in and around Mysuru may send their expression of interest to the YiP 2025 by April 30. For more details, interested candidates shall contact K. Guruprasad at yi.mysuru@cii.in or on 9535639537.
