Youth dies while shooting promotional video of luxury cars in Kozhikode

A 20-year-old youth was killed while shooting promotional reels of a luxury car at Kozhikode beach road on Tuesday morning (December 10).

The deceased has been identified as T.K. Alwin, 20, son of Suresh Babu, a native of Kadameri in Vadakara in the district. The accident took place at 7.30 a.m. near the Vellayil police station.

According to the police, the incident occurred while Alwin was filming a promotional video of a car chase on his mobile phone. He was allegedly standing on the divider when he was hit by one of the luxury cars involved in the shoot. Alwin sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Baby Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around noon. His body was later shifted to Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

Alwin, who had been employed in the United Arab Emirates, had returned home six months ago. He was reportedly filming the reels for an automobile firm based in Kozhikode.

The Vellayil police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The vehicles involved in the accident have been taken into custody.
