TIRUPATI: YS Sharmila, founder of the YSRTP and sister of Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that she is all set to work with the Congress party in her next political innings.
Accompanied by her mother YS Vijayamma, son Raja Reddy and to-be daughter-in-law Priya Atluri, YS Sharmila paid tributes to her father and former Chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy at the latter’s memorial at Idupulapaya in YSR Kadapa district on Tuesday.
YS Sharmila extended her son Raja Reddy’s first wedding invite to her father at the YSR ghat and sought his blessings.
Speaking to reporters later, YS Sharmila said she would be meeting the Congress party high command at the national capital on Wednesday.
“We decided to join hands with the Congress party much ahead of the Telangana elections itself. That is the reason why the YSRTP backed off from the Telangana polls in order to extend support to the Congress party. YSRTP’s decision to withdraw from the elections helped the Congress party to secure a win in about 31 assembly constituencies”, YS Sharmila observed.
“The Congress party, which acknowledged our contribution to their victory in the Telangana elections, has invited us and we will meet the party High command at Delhi tomorrow”, Sharmila added and said she will answer all other questions regarding her future political course in a couple of days.
