VASCO: Deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Vasco sub-division, Salim Shaikh on Saturday made an unexpected appeal.
He said that locals should avoid going for morning walks on January 1, as there could be higher chances of accidents on the day due to drunk and rash driving by revellers.
“As there are chances of rash and negligent driving due to the possibility of people consuming alcohol in view of New Year celebrations, police will be deployed on beaches and roads to book cases under the MV Act.I call upon the people not to take morning walks due to the possibility of accidents,” the Vasco su-division dySP said.
Shaikh said that nearly 250 police personnel will be deployed on beaches and roads across Mormugao taluka under the Vasco police sub-division from December 31 night to January 1 to check for violations of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act.
“I will urge people to take care of themselves, if they are willing to go for morning walks on the morning of January 1, they should take all the necessary care from rash and negligent driving,” the dySP said.
