Dunki and Salaar (Hindi) are now neck to neck with each other as far as daily collections are concerned. Both the films have managed to hang in there rather decently on the weekdays, something that was pretty much required as well so that the second weekend turns out to be stable. As it is, both the films certainly require support of the second weekend as well to pull through and hence Thursday collections didn’t have to be too far away from Tuesday (since Monday was as it is a national holiday and hence big).
Thankfully, that did turn out to be the case, what with both the films staying over the Rs. 7 crores mark. Let’s talk about Dunki first. The film brought in Rs. 7.50 crores more and would now be aiming to stay stable around the same numbers today as well, and then get back to double digits tomorrow and then the day after. While Rs. 10 crores and Rs. 12 crores respectively should come on Saturday and Sunday, anything more than that would be an added bonus. The good part is that Monday is a holiday too owing to New Year and hence there is a chance to stay over Rs. 10 crosses then too. So far, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer has collected 149.77 crores.
As for Salaar (Hindi), it has reached Rs. 93 crores and should enter the Rs. 100 Crores Club today. On Thursday, the Prabhas starrer was reasonably stable again as it brought in Rs. 8 crores more. It should now collect Rs. 7 crores more today and that would be around 50% drop when compared to the first day, which would be good enough for a sustained second weekend ahead.
There is no new major notable release till Fighter arrives but then to take advantage of that, what’s required is for the momentum to be regained again in the second weekend.
