Dismissing the concerns expressed by Congress MP Jairam Ramesh regarding voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPATs) in his December 30 letter to the Election Commission, the poll panel on Friday said the latest letter “has no new assertions or reasonable and legitimate doubts which require further clarifications”.
“It is, once again, requested to refer to EVM resources, including further updated FAQs, which cover all possible aspects,” the EC said in its response to Ramesh’s letter.
Ramesh had, in his letter to the EC, reiterated his request that the Commission hear a delegation of the INDIA block on their views regarding VVPATs and paper slips.
