NEW DELHI: Former Congress MLA and party leader Bamber Thakur was shot at by unidentified assailants at his residence in Bilaspur on Friday. The attack took place while he was at home when armed attackers opened fire.
According to reports, around 12 rounds were fired during the attack. Thakur and his personal security officer (PSO) sustained bullet injuries on their back and abdomen. Initially, Thakur was moved to a safe location, while his PSO was taken directly to the hospital. Later, Thakur was also hospitalized.
Both have been shifted from the Bilaspur Regional Hospital to AIIMS Bilaspur for advanced treatment. Police are investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to identify the attackers.
