RAJKOT: An elderly woman has been charged with the murder of her one-year-old grandson by biting him in Gujarat‘s Amreli city.
The accused woman is identified as Kulsan Saiyad.
The incident came to the light when child’s grandfather took him to the civil hospital in critical condition on September 3.
The toddler had multiple injury marks on his body. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Initially, the police registered it as an accidental death and sent the body for post-mortem examination at Bhavnagar civil hospital in which it was revealed that the child had bite marks.
A police officer said that the accused, a resident of nearby Rajashtali village, was resting with her two grandchildren around 4pm on the day of the incident. When the grandson began crying loudly, Kulsan tried to console him. However, when the child continued to cry, she lost her temper.
Kulsan bit the child on his right cheek, on the forehead above his right eye, as well as his hands and legs. She also kicked him in a fit of rage.
“We have registered the complaint and will initiate a process to arrest the accused,” said a police officer.
