The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), an off-shoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Friday (January 24, 2025) claimed that the main reason for the decreasing birth rate of Hindu society is the imbalance in the population of the community. The organisation asked Hindu families to raise at least three children “as it is an important responsibility to protect the existence of Hindu society”.

The VHP’s statement came during the organisation’s two-day meeting of the Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal (Central Guidance Board) that was held at Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. The meeting was attended by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar (chief) of Juna Akhara (warrior saint sects) Avdheshanand Giri, President of VHP Alok Kumar, and Central General Secretary of VHP Bajrang Lal Bagda among others.

“The VHP has already started a nationwide campaign to free Hindu temples from government control. Now, we have got the approval and support of the saints community as well. The Hindu saints believe that all temples should be freed from government control as well as the laws establishing government control should be removed and the management of temples should be handed over to the devotees,” said VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal.

He added that the revered saints of ‘Margdarshak Mandal’ have called for increasing the birth rate of Hindu society to keep the population “balanced”. “As an important responsibility to protect the existence of Hindu society, at least three children should be born in every Hindu family,” he added.

The VHP also maintained that continues to be committed to get Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi Vishwanath temples since 1984, when it was decided in the Dharma Sansad (religious parliament) and the organisation will continue to do all that is needed to get the temples back.

The VHP’s Central Guidance Board welcomes the Union government’s reforms in the Waqf Board Act. “It is important to control the unbridled and unlimited powers of the Waqf Board. We urge the MPs of all parties to cooperate in getting this Bill passed,” he further said.
