Keanu Reeves to reunite with ‘Bill and Ted‘ co-star Alex Winter for Broadway debut in ‘Waiting for Godot
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, famed for their roles as the iconic slackers in the ‘Bill & Ted’ film series, are set to reunite on Broadway for a revival of the existential classic ‘Waiting for Godot’.
The play is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025 under the direction of Jamie Lloyd, a four-time Tony nominee who will also be directing a revival of ‘Sunset Boulevard’ later this year.
Samuel Beckett’s groundbreaking play follows two tramps, Estragon and Vladimir, as they await the elusive title character, whose arrival is perpetually in question. The play is known for its blend of vaudevillian humour and deep existential angst. Reeves will take on the role of Estragon, while Winter will portray Vladimir.

‘Waiting for Godot’ first premiered on Broadway in 1956 and has been revived three times, with the most recent production featuring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in 2013. This marks Reeves’ Broadway debut, adding another dimension to his illustrious career, which includes starring roles in the ‘Matrix’ and “John Wick” franchises. Winter, meanwhile, has previously appeared on Broadway in the 1970s in musical revivals of “The King and I” and “Peter Pan.”
In related theatre news, Adam Driver is also set to star in a new production of Kenneth Lonergan’s ‘Hold on to Me Darling’ this fall at the Lucille Lortel Theatre off-Broadway.
