MANGALURU:MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur strongly condemned the tragic incident in Mandya, where an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside her school’s washroom.
He stated that the incident once again highlights the complete breakdown of law and order in the state and is a severe blow to the moral values of the country. This shocking event has deeply shaken every parent, sibling, and family member, he said.
“As a father of a young daughter, I am devastated by such news. What should I tell my child when she asks about her safety? Is there any security for girls in this state and this country? Should we raise our children with dreams for the future, or should we live under the constant shadow of fear?” he questioned.
He further criticized the alarming rise in crime rates, stating that the state government remains indifferent. “Cases of rape and violence against women are increasing, yet the government is doing nothing to stop them. The police system is inactive, law and order have collapsed, and this is clear proof of the government’s failure,” he said.
He also accused the State Home Minister of shielding criminals through irresponsible statements and indirectly supporting them.
Condemning the state government’s inaction, he said, “This is not a political issue but a matter of humanity and social responsibility. The safety of women and children must be the top priority. The government must ensure swift and strict punishment for rapists. We need a state where women and children can live without fear. The people of this state will not tolerate such weak governance. The perpetrators must be severely punished, and the government must take public outrage and women’s safety concerns seriously. If they fail to do so, the day is not far when people will take to the streets to fight for their rights,” the MLC stated.
