NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his latest address, highlighted India’s growing self-confidence and commitment to self-reliance. Speaking during the 108th episode of his Mann Ki Baat radio program, Modi focused on the nation’s embodiment of the ‘Viksit Bharat‘ (developed India) spirit, emphasizing the importance of sustaining this momentum into 2024.
The broadcast also featured a segment on physical and mental well-being as part of the ‘Fit India’ initiative. Notable personalities like Sadhguru, founder of Isha Foundation, Indian Women’s Cricket Team Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, chess grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand, and actor Akshay Kumar contributed their fitness insights.
In a nationwide show of support, senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined the country at 11 am on Sunday to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s last ‘Mann ki Baat’ broadcast for the year.

During this special edition of Mann ki Baat, PM Modi reflected on the journey of the program, marking its 108th episode with a note on public participation and inspiration drawn from it. “After 108 episodes, it’s time to reinvigorate ourselves with new energy and pace, and what a pleasant coincidence that we are stepping into 2024 with tomorrow’s sunrise,” PM Modi said.
‘Viksit Bharat’ spirit
PM Modi underscored India’s current state of robust self-confidence, driven by the ethos of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and a focus on self-reliance. He reiterated the need to sustain the spirit of a developed India and the momentum of self-reliance into the next year.
He expressed his pride in India’s self-confidence and the pervasive spirit of development and self-reliance. “We have to maintain the same spirit and momentum in 2024 as well,” he said.
Space missions and pride in country’s scientists
PM Modi also shared his experiences of receiving congratulatory messages on India’s lunar mission, particularly for Chandrayaan-3, and expressed his pride in the country’s scientists, especially the women in the field.

Achievements in sports
Highlighting the achievements in sports, PM Modi congratulated Indian athletes for their impressive performances this year, including their medal hauls in the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games.
He also mentioned the Indian cricket team’s commendable performance in the Cricket World Cup and looked forward to the Paris Olympics in 2024, emphasizing the nation’s support for its athletes.

‘Naatu Naatu’, ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ Oscar Wins Celebrated in Mann Ki Baat
PM Modi celebrated India’s remarkable achievements at the Oscars, highlighting the successes of “Naatu Naatu” from the film “RRR” and the documentary short “The Elephant Whisperers”.
During the 108th episode of his radio program, PM Modi lauded these victories as showcases of India’s creative talents and its deep connection with the environment, as reflected in its entertainment industry.
“The joy was nationwide when ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Oscar. Similarly, the recognition for ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ filled everyone with pride. These achievements have displayed India’s creativity and highlighted our environmental ties to the world,” Modi remarked.
“Naatu Naatu”, a lively Telugu song composed by MM Keeravaani and written by Chandrabose, clinched the best original song award at the 95th Academy Awards. This win marked a historic moment for SS Rajamouli’s “RRR”, making it the first Indian feature film production to earn an Oscar.
Additionally, “The Elephant Whisperers”, a Tamil documentary on Netflix directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, earned the distinction of being the first Indian production to win in the documentary short film category at the Oscars.
PM encourages artistic tributes to Ram Temple
PM Modi spoke about the widespread excitement and cultural expression surrounding the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said that people across the country are celebrating this momentous event in various artistic forms.
The PM said, “In recent days, there has been a surge in new songs, bhajans, and poems dedicated to Shri Ram and Ayodhya. This outpouring of creativity is a testament to how deeply this event is resonating with people.”
He also mentioned his personal engagement with this cultural movement. “I have shared some of these bhajans and songs on my social media platforms. It’s fascinating to see how the world of art is embracing and becoming a part of this historic moment in its own unique way,” Modi added.
To further encourage this wave of artistic expression, the Prime Minister proposed a unified platform for sharing these creations. “I suggest we use a common hashtag for these artistic contributions. I urge everyone to share their works on social media using #SHRIRAMBHAJAN,” he urged, aiming to create a collective space for these expressions of devotion and creativity.
Top BJP leaders tune in to last Mann ki Baat of 2023
BJP national president JP Nadda, alongside Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, was seen listening to the program in Lucknow. In Delhi, Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi tuned in to the Prime Minister’s address. Further east, in Dibrugarh, Assam, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal was also engaged with the broadcast.
Rajasthan’s newly appointed chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma participated in the program from Jaipur. Other notable BJP leaders, including Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union minister G Kishan Reddy, were also pictured engrossed in the radio address.
