NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain plea seeking direction to Centre pertaining to arrest of an Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta in Czech Republic for allegedly conspiring to kill Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
The SC said that it is a sensitive matter and it is for the government to take a call and it should also respect jurisdiction of foreign court where matter is pending.
Asking for legal aid by the Centre, petitioner pleaded to the SC that Gupta was not given consular access and is being kept in solitary confinement.
The SC, however, said that it cannot go into these issues as it is for the government to decide and it cannot pass any direction to the Centre .
