NEW DELHI: In a distressing incident on Monday night, a church leader and several congregants were allegedly stabbed during a mass at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, located in Sydney’s west. NSW Police have confirmed the attack and reported that one man has been taken into custody and is assisting with their investigations.
This comes just two days after a deadly knife rampage in a city shopping mall.
According to a Sydney Morning Herald report, the violent occurrence was captured on a livestream of the service, which showed an individual attacking the church leader with a knife. The church, which was conducting its routine service, became a scene of panic and chaos following the unexpected assault.

Authorities have reported that while multiple victims sustained injuries, none are considered life-threatening. All injured parties are receiving medical attention from NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Currently, NSW Police are conducting operations at the site on Welcome Street, with officers from the Fairfield City Police Area Command present at the scene. As the situation is being managed, the public has been advised to steer clear of the area, the SMH report said.
The church community and the broader region are in shock as they process the events of this attack during what was supposed to be a peaceful gathering.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.
